Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (KVV), formerly known as Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University, is a premier institution of higher learning located in Karad, Maharashtra. Established with a vision to provide quality education in medical and allied health sciences, KVV has grown into a multi-disciplinary university offering programmes in medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy, and more.

The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and its medical college is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Krishna Hospital & Medical Research Centre, the teaching hospital attached to the university, is a major tertiary care centre serving the region.

The 1125-bed multi-specialty teaching hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services to the community. It houses advanced diagnostic laboratories, intensive care units, and specialized departments that support both clinical care and academic training.

The Department of Microbiology plays a critical role in diagnostic services, infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, and research activities within the hospital and the university.
